Ford Escort TWIN CAM and RS MK1/2 (1968-1980)

Ford’s mass-market saloons spawned high performance derivatives for racing and rallying. From the Lotus engined Escort Twin Cam followed by the successful RS range beginning with the RS1600 in 1970 that became so highly successful in rallying around the world. The RS2000 was fitted with the less highly-strung 2 litre Pinto engine from the Mk3 Cortina whilst the less expensive ‘Mexico’ had a lightly tuned 1.6 litre motor . The Mk 2 models followed a similar configuration and the RS1800 (rare now to find in road going trim) became the marque’s rally weapon.* Great classic to own in road, rally or historic racing guise!
