Joe did not want the seller to re-advertise the car, so he acted quickly and organised the money transfer as requested. Joe got a confirmation of payment from the agent and a delivery date for the car, but that was it. The car never turned up and Joe was never able to make contact with either the seller or the agent again. The scam cost Joe more than $12 000 and as Joe had sent the money overseas, there was little the Australian authorities could do to help.’
